Each year, people are thinking about starting a career in real estate sales. It seems tempting, the freedom to create your own schedule, to be in control of how much you earn, and have your own business. The reality is not a pretty picture, over a third of staff new real estate to leave the company in their first three years. Why not let so many people? The biggest factor is that they have not studied real estate activity to determine if they have the skill set required to succeed. Like any career there are skills who can help you set the path to success.
You should know early on that the sale of real estate are not a "get rich quick" career. To be a top producer in the real estate sector business planning, patience, people skills, and resilience, in addition to many other sub-sets of skills. Many potential new agents are not aware that they need a financial reserve to get through the first six to twelve months in the company to pay household and personal expenses in addition to start-up and marketing costs related to their new business selling real estate.
The first reason why new agents fail is their lack of motivation, you will be a independent contractor and will determine what you have all day to come will be in real estate. Although your broker management and possibly mentor office or coach will offer some structure and board, if you're not a self-starter, conscientious, disciplined and organized, your hopes of success are reduced. These skills can be adopted if you do not have them now.
My favorite question to ask a new agent is: "Why did you get into real estate sales? Over the years I received many responses, but the head of all time is "I love houses and architecture. While the houses and architecture might look like the answer, it is not. Real estate is a vehicle for business people and their personalities to interact. Real estate is more about people than houses. Human skills are the most important skill for you to be successful. Interpersonal skills include building rapport, problem solving, listening active assimilation needs and desires, and emotional resilience. Real estate is a business not a hobby or interest. Real estate consumers expect and deserve an experienced and ethical real estate professional.
Your personality will also play a role important in the sale of real estate. You should love and respect all kinds of people, personalities, ethnic groups and lifestyles. If not, you may found in violation of housing laws federal, state and local fair. Your ability to manage the sales process from first contact with real estate clients in the effective closure could help start your career by providing you with recommendations from satisfied customers.
Real estate is increasingly technology-driven business. You need to have or to learn to use at least one computer personal digital camera, and electronic mail and software to create effective marketing pieces and effectively manage your time. The majority consumers of today expect real estate agents to be able to email listings, organize virtual tours and have an Internet presence.

Credit Derivatives
$64.48 The credit risk market is the fastest growing financial market in the world, attracting everyone from hedge funds to banks and insurance companies. Increasingly, professionals in corporate finance need to understand the workings of the credit risk market in order to successfully manage risk in their own organizations; in addition, some wish to move into the field on a full-time basis. Most books in the field, however, are either too academic for working professionals, or written for those who already possess extensive experience in the area. Credit Derivatives fills the gap, explaining the credit risk market clearly and simply, in language any working financial professional can understand. Harvard Business School faculty member George C. Chacko and his colleagues begin by explaining the underlying principles surrounding credit risk. Next, they systematically present today's leading methods and instruments for managing it. The authors introduce total return swaps, credit spread options, credit linked notes, and other instruments, demonstrating how each of them can be used to isolate risk and sell it to someone willing to accept it. |
